In the past, the addition of a new channel of audio has not required a reboot of the receiver. Renaming has also been done without requiring reboots.
That being said, it would probably be good to reboot it ... but in theory (according to what I recall the manufacturer said once) it's not supposed to be necessary.
The DVB stream table containing all the PIDs and their associated three-letter mnemonics is sent out about 25 times per second, if I recall correctly. The Unity receiver (and any DVB-compliant receiver) will detect the change when it is sent out, but there is a possibility (and I don't know how to explain this "technically";-) that the receiver may not be paying attention to the PID table when it's updated and may not notice the change -- hence the idea that rebooting will force the receiver to re-read the table and thereby get the update.
In other words, if you didn't reboot this morning at 6 AM, I'm betting that you'll still be able to send it a "SETAUDIO 1 S CB1" and get the desired audio.
