Mike: I understand from early u4k years that a 14 often meant receiver
overloading, which was fixed by using one of several ways other forum
members can no doubt assist with. WIHS in Middletown, CT experiences 11 or
better, often 12x or 13x readings with a 3.9 meter Patriot dish. Our two
receivers are from two different production runs, as you mentioned and the
apparent readings appear to have a correlation with what run (slightly
different parts inside, perhaps.)The two receivers installed here vary in
their readings connected to the same dish, but mostly reflect readings that
I presume would be envied by other stations. What any particular EbNo
reading says about the quality of incoming audio output is a bit of a
mystery to me. The highest readings I ever observed here was during a
temporary "boost" in the carrier level from the satellite at a time when an
adjacent satellite was causing issues for many CRC user stations--the EbNo
then was 14> on both receivers for a while--though I don't recall any
adverse effects to the captured and aired audio!

this station--I also produce a public affairs program here.)

I remember seeing traffic here at times about getting an EbNo reading on the
Unity of >14. Having never experienced it myself, I haven't concerned
myself with that traffic too much, except to remember that this may mean an
impending problem.

Now I am experiencing that reading. This is on a receiver that has been in
service since 1999 and has never shown this reading before on two different
dish installations (one hardly ever got higher than 9 and this one has never
reached 13 to my knowledge).

Seems like there were some quick fixes posted here (like a reboot) and also
some info pertaining to different factory runs of these units. Don't
remember how long ago it was last posted, haven't looked in the archives to
see if it's still there, but thought I'd try a post and see if I can cut to
the chase.

Thanks in advance for any help.
